Fishing in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is world famous for fishing. Anglers come to this beautiful country because it affords them an opportunity to fish in one of the most beautiful areas of the world and enjoy fishing at its best. If you are in the market for a fishing trip by yourself or with family or friends we are proud to be affiliated with the most experienced fishing expert in Costa Rica. We can provide you with door to door service from your arrival in Costa Rica to your departure from the country including all hotels, transportation and any other request you may have. Our expert knows every good captain and boat in the country and his fifteen years of experience in booking fishing packages in Costa Rica is a testament to his experience and dedication. So if fishing is your goal, let us make it come true for you by providing you with a custom package tailored to your specific needs and requirements.

Costa Rica offers the world’s finest deep sea fishing. Richard Krug’s Americana Sportfishing is Costa Rica’s number one fishing charter operation for sailfish, marlin, tuna, dorado, wahoo and tarpon fishing.
My name is Richard Krug. I live and work full-time in Costa Rica. I’ve been successfully putting together saltwater fishing vacations and sportfishing packages for the past 15 years. I don’t own any boats, so I will book you only where the fishing is best. As a result I’ve had thousands of satisfied customers.
For six years, I wrote the weekly fishing column in the Tico Times, Central America’s largest English-language newspaper. Thanks to this I know virtually all Costa Rica’s captains, boats, hotels and sportfishing lodges first-hand. I immediately know where and when the billfish, sailfish, marlin, tuna, tarpon, etc. are biting, and what captains are most successful.
This gives me the edge. I’m always in touch with the fishing captains I use – they’re just a local phone call away. I have fished on the fishing boats I recommend, and have stayed at all the hotels and fishing lodges I book.
I want you to catch fish, and to enjoy fishing on the boats you charter. I want you back in Costa Rica as an Americana Sportfishing repeat customer and referral source.
Call me toll-free or e-mail me now to book sportfishing charters and complete deep sea fishing packages in Costa Rica.
You'll enjoy the fishing experience of a lifetime!

Three keys to successful sportfishing:

  1. The captain or guide. What's his experience and reputation? How many years has he been a captain in Costa Rica? Does he speak English? Is he an owner /operator? We promote only the top captains, true ‘top guns’ who are up there among the world's best. I’ll never recommend a fishing captain I'm not comfortable with or don’t know.
  2. Be clear on your quarry. If you’re after billfish like sailfish or marlin, for example, or tuna, I’ll send you to the area on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast where the bite is on. For tarpon and snook, it’s Costa Rica’s Caribbean side for your sportfishing vacation. I’ll use my long experience in the sportfishing business to match your fishing requests with the best seasonal locations, captains and boats available.
  3. The boat. Because fishing techniques differ on Costa Rica’s Pacific and Caribbean coasts, I'm always following new developments. Just as I do with fishing captains, I’ll never recommend a boat I'm not comfortable with. Size does not always matter. Equipment, tackle and functioning gear do.

Mother Nature permitting, the fishing is great all year round. Costa Rica is a very beautiful and hospitable tropical country, just hours away from the USA and Canada. There are daily flights from major North American cities.
Bring your fishing buddies or your family. Richard Krug’s Americana Sportfishing offers fishing charters and entire Costa Rica fishing packages combining quality hotels, fishing lodges and comfortable, efficient transportation with the world’s finest saltwater sportfishing.
